Seekh kebab Burger

Have you ever tried having a Seekh Kebab Burger? Sounds a little off-beat doesn't it?
Any restaurant you go to here in India, these succulent kebabs can very easily be found on the menu. Seekh Kebabs are made by mincing meat, typically lamb, seasoned with spices and then wrapped around thick metal skewers and cooked on a hot grill or a Tandoor. Served with a mouth-watering green mint-coriander chutney  truly makes them the perfect appetizers before a meal (left to me, I can just have them alone for my meal).
What I have done here is tweaked the original Seekh kebabs recipe and to get the monotony out of the mundane given them the shape of burgers. This recipe is actually a lazy man's dream, for a easy way out  to having some great tasting food, as you are saved from the laborious task of getting fresh minced mutton, washing it, cooking it and then marinating as all the work is already done for you. Here, I simply minced the regular shop bought kebabs, made cutlets out of the minced mixture and then used them for making my burgers. It is really easy as you don't have to sweat over adding any flavors as the kebabs are already marinated and pre-seasoned with the herbs and spices. I for one, normally always have Seekh kebabs lying in my deep freeze - one for the unexpected guests and secondly and most importantly for those lazy nights when you just quickly want to get over with the dinner and then just relax in bed with a good book or with the TV remote in your hand (if you are lucky enough to get control of it) flicking mindlessly through the channels. (A real stress buster for me). On days like these, my favorite menu is, without a doubt "Roti and Seekh Kebab".
So for all of you who love the great flavors of the kebab, and bored of having them in the regular fashion, tickle your palates with this unusual twist to your regular kebabs. Assured appreciation from both the kids and hubby.
A little tip: After you finish making the cutlets, lay out the burger buns and all the ingredients  for the filling on the table in different dishes. Let your kids enjoy fixing their own burgers by adding their own sauces and filling as per their choice. They absolutely love getting their hands into it and most important being given the independent choice of fixing their own meal and adding everything according to their own taste.

Ingredients
2 mutton seekh kebabs, minced
1 egg
2 tsp cornflour
1 tsp dried thyme
1 cup Yogurt sauce
1 tbsp Delmonte Mustard sauce
1 cup shredded lettuce/ cabbage leaves
Cheese slice
sliced onions
Sliced Tomatoes
2 tbsp olive oil

Method
In a bowl, combine the minced kebabs, eggs ,cornflour and dried thyme. Shape the mixture into four  medium sized cutlets.
In a large non-stick pan , cook the cutlets over medium heat in hot oil for 10 minutes, turning once halfway through cooking time.

To assemble (the way I like to do it), first spread the yogurt sauce on the bottom half of the burger bun, then set the burgers on top of the sauce. Spread some mustard sauce on the cutlet. Top it with a cheese slice, some shredded lettuce, onions and tomatoes.

Ready to eat !! It can't get easier than this.
