Bread and Biscuit pudding

This rich gooey chocolaty dessert is just what you would be looking for when you don't have too much time on your hands and want something that is quick to fix, required minimal effort and tasted like a dream. This is one dessert that is not only really quick and simple, but also cost - effective, with most of the main ingredients - bread, biscuits and custard powder found easily in most households.
The traditional way to make the custard includes egg yolks, milk or cream, and vanilla, but this custard recipe can be made in a jiffy using custard powder. ( I used Brown and Polson's vanilla custard powder). For best results, make a day ahead and refrigerate.
I want to thank my dear friend, Mamta (whom I have known for the past 25 years) for sharing this wonderful recipe with me.
Go ahead and try it and I can assure you, this is one dessert you would be going back to again and again.

Ingredients
24 Marie biscuits
15 slices of bread, edges removed and cut into cubes
2 cups Vanilla custard
2 cups Chocolate custard
Whipped cream - for decoration

Method
Follow the directions given at the back of the box and make custard with 1 liter (approximately 4 1/2 cups)of milk.
Divide it equally into two pans.
In one half of the custard, add 3 tbsp heaped cocoa, 1 tsp of coffee and 50 gms of butter. Mix well till well combined. You have your chocolate custard ready.
Now, dip your marie biscuits in the hot chocolate custard and layer the bottom of a rectangular dish.
Pour some extra sauce on the biscuits to cover them fully.
Next, dip the pieces of bread in the vanilla custard and layer on top of the biscuits. Cover well with the custard.
Repeat the layers again - biscuit layer, then the bread and finally ending with the biscuit layer.
Decorate with whipped cream.
Serve chilled.

Sweet dreams are made of this.......
